Fall is here and the cooler weather is on its way! Since we usually do not get cooler weather here in the south, until November (or later), I like to make seasonal drinks and foods just to put me in the fall spirit. I love apples. They taste so crisp and fresh in the fall. I love going to pick my own or buying from the local farmers market, but I never know what to do with all of them. I recently came across a recipe for an apple smoothie that is amazing and healthy. I will be using this one, in my rotation, as a breakfast on the go. The best part is that it is super easy to make.
Apple Pie Smoothie Recipe:
1 apple peeled and sliced
1 tsp lemon juice
1 ½ tsp pure maple syrup, honey (or any natural sweetener that you prefer)
1 tbsp chia seed
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon (you can use cassia cinnamon, but Ceylon has more anti-inflammatory properties)
8 oz almond milk
1 cup of ice
Blend all ingredients together for the perfect fall smoothie
